Tusk Pulse

About

Tusk Pulse started as a folder of voice memos and slowly turned into a habit: carry a small recorder, stop somewhere, listen for twenty minutes, write down what was heard.

The kit is modest on purpose — a handheld recorder, a pair of small omni microphones, a foam windscreen and whatever sock is at hand when the wind picks up. Long takes matter more than gear.

Why notes and not audio

Places sound different to everyone, and the recordings are mostly interesting to the person who stood there. The notes are the shareable part: what worked, what did not, and which corners of a town are quiet at six in the morning.
